3D printing will be the next big thing. Well in my opinion it is and those who will make them everyday household items just like your regular printer and smartphone are the kids. If you are unfamiliar with 3D printing, here’s a quick primer and we believe that 3D printing for kids is going to change their everyday lives.
What is 3D printing?
3D printing the process of taking a 3-dimensional image that is produced from a variety of sources such as drafting programs like CAD or a 3D scanner or printer and then sending that file to output on a 3D printer which uses heated resin to “add” layers and over time creates the desired 3-dimensional product.
What can you do with 3D printing?
The opportunities are endless. As 3D printers become cheaper, more efficient and faster you’ll see 3D printers integrate into every part of our lives. From printing small auto parts to organs and tissue to toys for kids.
How do I get started in 3D printing?
3D printers aren’t cheap and the really good ones start at about $1,200 from Makerbot but every 6 months they will continue to go down in price. Their is free software available and there are 3D printing services that you don’t need a printer, just send them the file you made in Sketchup or CAD and they’ll do the rest.
